Leiden 8cm digital aerial photo completed
Aug 29th, 2006

Recently Aerodata completed the digital aerial photo mosaic of the City of Leiden (NL), a densely populated city in the province of Zuid-Holland, with a world famous historical city centre.

It is internationally known for having the oldest university of The Netherlands, as well as for being the birthplace of the world famous painter Rembrandt.

The aerial imagery over the city was captured with a Vexcel Ultracam-D under a high altitude overcast yielding a superior level in detail and overall image quality at 8cm GSD.

As with the Amsterdam 2006 digital aerial photography, the Leiden imagery was flown and processed with 65% - 65% image overlap to obtain a high-end digital photo and allow for 3D mapping applications.

Because the project was flown under overcast and in late spring 2006, the aerial imagery has a very good colour and tonal balance, and a high level of detail and contrast.

The high percentage of overlap ensures minimal building lean, approaching the quality of a true ortho.

As with all other Aerodata data sets, the end product will be included in the aeroGRID® archives, and will be made available for any interested party both online and offline.
