Digital orthophoto mosaic of Amsterdam completed
Aug 17th, 2006

Early August 2006 Aerodata Surveys completed the digital orthophoto mosaic of the city of Amsterdam. This is the second time in two years that Aerodata successfully acquired 550 km² of digital photography of the city of Amsterdam at a resolution of 20cm.

The first Amsterdam digital data acquisition in 2004 marked the introduction of Aerodata's large format digital camera in Europe.

Immediately after capturing the aerial imagery, successive digital processing (aerial triangulation, ortho-rectification and mosaicking) was executed to achieve a minimum turn-around time. The project was flown and processed with 65% - 65% overlap to obtain a high-end digital photo and allow for 3 D mapping applications.

The Amsterdam 2006 digital aerial photo mosaic (20cm GSD) is exemplary for the quality Aerodata achieves with the UltraCam-D. Colour balance, contrast, sharpness and the visiblity of details in shadows and light areas are of a very high standard.

The end product will be included in Aerodata’s aeroGRID® archives, and will be made available soon for any interested party both online and offline.
